Dresden (day 1)


Brühlsche Gasse

Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady)
- originally built in 1743
- destroyed in 1945 during WWII bombing of Dresden
- reconstructed in 2005 through donations

it is the most important protestant church in Germany

it is also the brightest church I've ever seen


Georgentor

der Fürstenzug 
- a porcelain wall of 35 princes of Saxony
- it shows the history of Saxony from 1123 to 1904
- it is 102 metres long and 9.5 metres high

- known as Georgij-Dimitroff-Brücke between 1945-1990

die Kunsthofpassage in Neustadt (new town)
- a passage located in the student district of Dresden
- artists designed the buildings and courtyards
